Microbiome

What is the vaginal microbiome?

Just like your gut, your vagina is home to billions of bacteria (some good, some bad). These make up your vaginal microbiome. When it's disrupted, you're at greater risk of developing infections like thrush and BV.

Why is it important to have a healthy vaginal microbiome?

Having a high level of good bacteria (Lactobacilli) means your vaginal microbiome is thriving. Why should you care? Because it's not just thrush and BV it wards off. A healthy vaginal microbiome has been known to lessen the risk of other vaginal health problems too.

A healthy vaginal microbiome is predictive of...

Recurrent vaginal infections like thrush and BV
Lower risk of contracting STIs and pelvic inflammatory disease
Troubles conceiving and IVF success likelihood
A lower risk of experiencing miscarriage and preterm birth

Please keep in mind that the Daye vaginal microbiome screen is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any disease. Like any other lab report, our screen cannot be used as a diagnosis by itself, it needs to be combined with the opinion of a medical specialist. This is why we put you in touch with independent medical experts who can help you obtain a diagnosis, while our partner prescribing pharmacists can help you obtain any necessary prescriptions. Please ensure that you do not treat the report by itself as medical advice, and do take advantage of our telemedical layer to help you contact a doctor for your results. The Daye Health Assessments cannot replace a medical diagnosis. They are instead designed to enrich your understanding of your own health, and to help you access empathetic medical care.
